Database techniques

This unit will help you to improve your database skills. Learn how to input and delete information from a database, how to create a new database and all about designing a basic query.

Database applications

Do more with your data. This unit shows you how to create complex queries and how to create and print reports.

Using desktop publishing software

In this first desktop publishing unit you will learn how to create, save and desktop publish professional documents.

Optional unit
six:

Putting desktop publishing into practice

If you want to do even more with your documents, this second desktop publishing unit will explore cost, design, print and production issues involved in producing publications.

What software will I need access to in order to study this course?

  • An Internet enabled PC (click here to take a look at the hardware and software requirements and see what this should include)
  • Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express (alternatively, a web-based email account such as Hotmail can be used)
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Antivirus software such as Norton Antivirus, McAfee Virus Scan, Trend PC-cillin or F-Secure
  • Microsoft Backup or similar backup software
  • Notepad text editing software (if you choose to study Optional unit two: Developing a web page)
  • Microsoft Access (if you choose to study Optional unit three: Database techniques and/or Optional unit four: Database applications)
  • Microsoft Publisher (if you choose to study Optional unit five: Using desktop publishing and/or Optional unit six: Putting desktop publishing into practice)
