Sarah Farquhar – IT programmes
Twenty–eight–year old Sarah Farquhar lives in Hinkley, Leicestershire and works as a pharmacy dispenser in Coventry. When she’s not at work, Sarah also runs a Brownie unit and is a district and division secretary,
practices holistic health therapies and enjoys playing the piano and saxophone.
Due to her busy lifestyle, Sarah felt that she would find it difficult to complete a college course. She told us:
"I work from 8.30am to 6.30pm, twenty minutes drive from home, so any courses that I looked at through local colleges were almost impossible for me to attend, or would mean that I never got to see home, eat or sleep! So I decided that an online course was the way to go. I found the link for vision2learn on a website about online learning."
Sarah chose to complete a vision2learn beginner level course to help her make better use of her computer and feel more comfortable using it. She told us:
"I have learnt so much more about my computer and I’m looking forward to completing another vision2learn computer course to learn even more."
This was Sarah’s first experience of online learning and she really enjoyed it. She explained:
"I think classroom learning is great as it does mean that you have support from other learners, however I found that the online method was even better as it meant that I could study at my own pace in my own time."
"As my tutor will tell you I was so excited about being able to start learning that I actually did my first couple of assessments while on holiday in Iceland!"
Sarah admitted that she did find some aspects of the course quite difficult but was thrilled with the support and guidance she received from her vision2learn tutor.
Sarah has already started an intermediate level course with vision2learn and is thoroughly enjoying it. When asked if she would recommend vision2learn to anyone she knew, Sarah told us:
"If you are a committed and determined person, then vision2learn courses are great. You can fit them around your other commitments and there’s no need to put the rest of your life on hold!"
