Rebecca Jordan – IT programmes
Twenty–seven–year–old Rebecca Jordan lives in London and is employed on an IT support unit. Rebecca made the decision to complete an online course after deciding to leave work to start a family. She told us:
"I turned to one of vision2learn’s interactive media courses so I could learn some new skills in web design and explore the possibility of starting an Internet business to earn an income from home."
Rebecca found out about vision2learn through a friend who saw an advert on the Internet. She said:
"I chose to complete an online course, because I spend a lot of time at my PC anyway, and prefer learning online as opposed to classroom–based learning. I’m not the most outgoing person so don’t gain much from a classroom environment and also I prefer the flexibility of online learning."
Rebecca felt that on completion of the course she had gained some really useful skills and knowledge, as well as a nationally recognised qualification. She told us:
"First of all, I have learnt how to create a simple website, which I didn’t have a clue how to do before, and that was my initial aim. I’ve also discovered how to use search engines more effectively. This has made my Internet research much more efficient, which is integral to my part–time job as a freelance researcher."
Like many vision2learn students, Rebecca really enjoyed the freedom and flexibility of learning online, she appreciated being able to work at her own pace and at times that were convenient for her.
Rebecca was also thrilled with the help she received from her online tutor, she told us:
"My online tutor was fantastic. She wasn’t pushy – if I was unwell, or on holiday for a couple of weeks, then she didn’t have a problem with my not submitting an assessment. If I ever had any queries about the course, she would explain things clearly and in an encouraging manner."
"I have already applied to do a second course with vision2learn. Once again, if there is an opportunity to further your skills and knowledge for free and gain a qualification out of it, then why not take it?!"
