Kharma–Sel Turner – IT programmes
Thirty–one–year–old Kharma–Sel Turner lives in London and works a Website Officer for an army related charity. She has been helping to update and develop the charity’s website for over
six years and also has a degree in Philosophy.
Despite her job, Kharma–Sel doesn’t have any formal IT–related qualifications. She said:
"I am continually striving to learn and understand more about IT and web related topics. I’ve taught myself HTML and have designed three websites for family and friends."
"I came across vision2learn whilst surfing the net and picked one of the intermediate level IT programmes. Whilst I have gained a lot of knowledge in my role at work, there was still lots of basic IT stuff that I just didn’t know."
Studying online allowed Kharma–Sel to fit learning around her busy lifestyle. She commented:
"Online courses are perfect for me. I can do the course anywhere and at any time, without having to travel to a college to do it."
The course content was also ideal for Kharma–Sel’s needs. She said:
"I liked the fact that it covered a wide range of topics, from networking, to using email, to using Access databases. I was hoping it would help fill in the gaps of my knowledge and experience, and it did."
"I have been able to use all the new stuff I learnt, both in my own job, and to help colleagues. And I have a new qualification as a bonus!"
Kharma–Sel has really enjoyed her experience of learning online and has been busy spreading the word with family and friends. She added:
"I would absolutely recommend e–learning. I tell people about vision2learn all the time. As well as learning new skills, it has really boosted my confidence in my ability to study and complete tasks."
