June Rhodes – IT programmes
Fifty–six–year–old June Rhodes lives in Brough near Hull. She works part–time as a Customer Service Assistant and her many hobbies include cycling, cooking, tapestry, photography and looking after her grandchildren.
A friend told June about vision2learn and she was keen to find out more. She visited the vision2learn website and promptly enrolled for a beginner level IT course.
June said: "I wanted to learn more about my computer and understand what my grandchildren were talking about."
June has gained a great deal from the course and is no longer scared of breaking her computer. She added:
"I have already gained a lot in confidence and know more about the software on my computer. I hardly knew anything about the Internet and emailing, but I’m not so frightened of it now."
June quickly got used to the process of learning online. She appreciated the freedom to learn at her own pace whenever she liked. She commented:
"Studying online felt strange at first, but I quickly got used to it. I particularly liked being able to learn when I had a few minutes to spare and not having to stick to a particular time."
"I think online learning is a great idea. I’ve already recommended vision2learn to friends and family members."
June coped well with learning independently, but felt reassured that her online tutor could be contacted at any time. She said:
"It was nice to know there was someone I could get in touch with if I needed help. It was good getting feedback and constructive criticism."
June has continued her learning experience with another intermediate level vision2learn IT programme. She just goes to show that it’s never too late to learn!
